The John Vatavuk Memorial Bridge
Four years ago I posted a video of this bridge when it was under construction. Recently I received a email from one of our state senators asking if I’d be willing to update my video for a upcoming bridge dedication ceremony honoring the late John Vatavuk.
Mr. Vatavuk was a good man and a great county commissioner that worked tirelessly to see this project completed. I’m honored to be ask to play a small part in this ceremony.

Camp Gulf Destin, FL Great place to ride my fat bike. It’s a 5 mile ride down the beach to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. There you’ll find miles of trails through the dunes and coastal pine forest. I’d suggest you check with the tidal charts first though because this narrow beach can be hard to navigate when the tides up. Enjoy the 4K view and the music by Creed.

Located in Orange City Fl. Formerly known as Clark Family Campground. Little has changed other than the name. This RV Park is in a great location...only minutes from Blue Springs State Park and 30 minutes from Dayton Beach. Many things to see and do within this area. Enjoy the view in 4K!
Bridge To Crescent Beach - St. Augustine Florida

Only a few miles south of St. Augustine along A1A, this bridge on SR 206 links the main land to Crescent Beach. The road crosses the intercoastal waterway, also known as the Matanzas River. If your planning a trip to one of these beaches you may want to consider this route. Traffic on 206 is light compared to any of the northern access roads. Enjoy the view in 4K!

Surf City Family Campground | Topsail Island NC Camping at the beach doesn’t get much better than this! Great management and friendly fellow campers. Oh and the beach is pretty nice too! Make sure you call in advance, they tend to stay full all season.

Great video David! Keep in mind it's illegal to fly camera drones over National Park Service properties, such as this Fort Matanzas National Monument. But! It's fine by me!
Thanks for the tip. It’s illegal now but at the time this was filmed that law didn’t exist. I fly very little anymore, the government took all the fun out of it.

When you're on the bridge, it's hard to tell, but that definitely is a huge bridge!
I hiked down the river and launched my drone from underneath the bridge. It’s impressive to look at from there.

I have been to this ocean resort and the deep end of the main pool is 8 ft 3 in. It's pretty deep
Thanks for posting. Used to do a lot of fishing there. Was through recently and is heartbreaking to see what it has become. I know they are “working” on it but I’ve heard rumors that it will never be as full as it once was, and the even if it is it would be a decade or more to get the fishing back up. Just sad to me.
We fished there to…very sad. I think it’s ridiculous that they spent all that money on rebuilding the dam. There was nothing wrong with the old one.

Thanks for the footage. It helped me make up my mind: What use is it to be ocean front and have to look at the backs of the folks who pitched there beach tents and Canopies (which impedes a clean view of the beautiful blue open ocean)? But hey to each their own. The campground towards the entrance and middle seems very nice too. This is definitely a must visit place.
Stayed there three times now, we enjoyed staying mid-park the best.
Is this a pet friendly beach?
Unfortunately no, none of the beaches are in that area.
Is that the 100 bridge?
The road is A1A. Not sure if the bridge has a number associated with it?

Sadly many have jumped off this bridge.
It's not that sad, if you knew the list of jumpers. Very low ratio on the tragedy scale. A lot of people have avoided lengthy prison sentences by taking the plunge.
That's what I'm using this perspective for, needed to know where the longest drop and hardest hit would be along the bridge. Just in case.

Were you camping at camp gulf? We just bought two ebikes and we are going back in May and was wondering if they allowed them on the beach.
Yes, we stayed at Camp Gulf. I’m not sure about ebikes but no one ever said anything to me about my regular fat bike. As you can see in the video, the first mile or so from the camp is pretty congested but it’s worth it once you get near the state park. Enjoy!

Grew up in the 50s and 60s my Dad worked for Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown, we Visited Bethco Pines in Summer for Swimming and Fall to Hunt Pheasant and Quail raised from Bird Pens and Released from Leased fields to local Farmers, also Had a beautiful Hunting Lodge that had a Skeet Range! Born 1955, lived in Westmont,Delivered Tribune Democrat myself and 3 older Brothers,Moved away in 1968 to Indiana, Burns Harbor Bethlehelm Steel plant their!
This place looks cool, we stayed in Santa Rosa Beach last month in a condo. We had no clue this place existed. We will definitely check Camp Gulf out, and great video!

Loved this video. Spent many many hours at the inlet over the past 35 years since I am a little kid. That area has changed so much in many ways but still has amazing charm and beauty. My folks have a place down the road on A!A and my,plan is to retire there some day. Thank you for taking back to my second home!
How do you like the doors now?
We’ve had this Ranger for a few years now and put on over 1000 miles. I’m happy to report that the door have been working great. They come off easy, so we remove them in the summer but put them back on as soon as fall returns. Great doors for the money.
I am going there tomorrow for the first time. Can anyone recommend a good location for catching pike?
